IP Restrictions
Instructions
For added security, you may restrict user access to all trading platforms (e.g., Trader Workstation (TWS), IBKR Mobile apps and "Trade" from Portal) from a specific list of IP addresses.
User access from a restricted IP address is limited to only administrative functions in Portal. If restrictions are not specified for a trader, the trader can log in from any IP address.
Note: Adding or removing an IP address restriction will take effect the following business day.

You can access this page if you are a(n):
- Individual, Joint, Trust or IRA Account User
- Small Business Account User
- Family Advisor, Non-Professional Advisor or Client
- Advisor Master User
- Proprietary Trading Group Master User
- Broker Master
- Broker Client
- Investment Manager Master
- Fund

Click Settings > Security > IP Restrictions.

Click Add IP Restriction.

In the Trader drop-down, select a trader. You can select any user that you have added to your account, including yourself.

In the IP Address field, enter an IP address. This will be the IP address from which the selected trader will be able to access TWS.

Click CONTINUE.

If you do not participate in the Secure Login System for two-factor authentication, you will receive an email containing a confirmation number. Enter the confirmation number and then click CONTINUE.

Click Ok.

You may want to modify IP restrictions for existing users, first remove the existing IP restriction and then add a new IP restriction.

You may want to remove IP restrictions from existing users.
- Click Settings > Security > IP Restrictions.
- Each user with IP restrictions is displayed on an expanding/collapsing row in the Active section. Click to expand the row for the user whose IP restriction you want to remove.
- Click the X to remove the restriction.
The trader will no longer be restricted to that IP address.

This procedure applies only to users who do not participate in the Secure Login System for two-factor authentication.
- Click Settings > Security > IP Restrictions.
- Each user with pending IP restrictions is displayed on an expanding/collapsing row in the Pending section.
- To confirm a pending IP restriction, click the row to expand it, and then enter the confirmation number we sent to your email address and click CONTINUE. If you have not yet received the confirmation number or you lost the email, click Resend Confirmation Number to receive a new one.
Click Ok on the last screen. - To cancel a pending IP restriction, click the row to expand it and then click X icon.
- To confirm a pending IP restriction, click the row to expand it, and then enter the confirmation number we sent to your email address and click CONTINUE. If you have not yet received the confirmation number or you lost the email, click Resend Confirmation Number to receive a new one.
